About

Mario Perez

My journey into photography started years before I picked up a real camera. Shortly after graduating from high school, I joined the Marine Corps in 1994. Little did I know that this chapter in my life would lead me to so many adventures and memories. Not only did I create some of the closest friends and brothers which I still have currently today but I was also able to travel to distant lands and witness what many inner city kids only dreamt or read about in school. It wasn't until I retired my Marine Corps Blues, Married and had a family, trials and tribulations, I was able to truly enjoy new adventures while hiking trails in the local San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains Of California.

As my excursions grew to other States and eventually to other countries the more, I wanted to capture those memories. I would often visit national parks like Joshua Tree and stare at the blanket of stars that would light up the moonless skies. As much as I tried my cell phone wasn't adequate to capture such beauty and this is when I started to research buying my first professional camera.

I wish I could say that I was self-taught and I guess in a way I was. But inspired by so many other outdoor photographers and watching endless hours of YouTube And tutorials I took these lessons to the beach to the mountains to the rivers and lakes where I could start now applying these techniques. I remember capturing my first picture of the Milky Way Galaxy and I was so excited and instantly hooked. Although it wasn't one of my best pictures it was a turning point which has led me to present day.

My hope is that my images either inspire you to get out and look up at the stars, sit and watch the waves crash against the shore, take you on many road trips, and or transport you straight into the images I have captured.
